VAIL Executive Director, Gayl Brunk, received the Good Citizenship Medal in recognition of notable services on behalf of our American principles from the Sons of the American Revolution, presented by Randy Atkins. The award was presented at the Harrisonburg Massanutten Rotary Club. Within the meeting today it was said that "For decades, Gayl has been a trailblazer in the independent living movement. As the head of VAIL, she has led transformative efforts to remove barriers, create accessible communities, and ensure that individuals with disabilities have the tools, resources, and advocacy they need to live with dignity and independence. Her legacy is evident not just in VAIL's programs, but in the lives of the thousands of people who have been empowered under her leadership." Middletown Mayor Charles H. Harbaugh, IV nominated Gayl for this award.
